Chail is a town situated in Himachal Pradesh which is just 55 km before Shimla if you approach from New Delhi to Shimla. Many tourists travel to Shimla due to its popularity of mall road and being the Capital city of Himachal Pradesh but Chail is for those who need to spend some quiet time exploring the hidden nature in the Himalayas and not for the adventure activities and adventure sports.

Chail is one of the unexplored places in Himachal Pradesh, even though being so near to popular tourist destinations like Shimla and Solan but if you are planning for a long weekend getaways from Delhi then you could also visit Shimla and Manali.

But if you are searching for the unexplored weekend getaways from Delhi then a road trip to chail would be your perfect destination this summer.

Initially, we didn’t expect that this place has dense forest and many picturesque views that we could only imagine in places like Dalhousie.

The best thing about Chail is its greenery with pine tree along with the pleasant weather that you will love to change your mood from the regular city lifestyle here one could easily experience peace and get tranquil with nature and definitely it was our one of the best weekend getaways from Delhi so far.


Chail is approximately 340 Km from Delhi by road and it takes around 8-9 hours to reach there by car under normal traffic conditions.

Tourists could also visit there by Bus but the one needs to check the availability and book the tickets in advance and onboard to reach Chail.

Chail is an Isolated Hill Station in Himachal Pradesh which is very well connected by road in a similar highway to Shimla. So if you want to visit an urban style village in Himachal Pradesh to explore the nature then Chail will be one of the best weekend getaways from Delhi.


You will feel relaxed and you do not need to think much about the weather conditions before you arrive here. Usually, the weather is quite pleasant in Chail if we compare to most nearby cities like Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur which are extremely hot as compared to Himachal Pradesh during summers.

The temperature remains with 25°C in normal weather conditions, Here Drizzling is quite often which makes the weather more pleasant to experience one of the best weekend getaways from Delhi.

Kali Tibba Temple is a Temple of Goddess “Kali” and its location makes it a must visit place in Chail for the people who like to experience the sense of spirituality.

It is located on top of a hill and one can see breathtaking views from here. One must visit here to seek blessings of Goddess Kaali and could also click some of the nice photographs of the entire view.


Chail Palace was built in the 19th Century by Maharaja of Patiala during British Raj for a summer retreat.

It was built in 1891 and is famous for its ancient architecture also declared by the UNESCO world heritage site.

This palace has now been converted into government-run Hotel and you can book hotel rooms if you wish to experience the Lifestyle of The Maharaja.


“Sidh Baba ka Mandir” is also a famous tourist attraction, people visit here to experience spirituality and meditation.

It is situated on a hilltop at a height of 8000 ft above sea level.

Maharaja Bhupinder Singh wanted this to be built next to Chail palace but it is said that Sidd Baba instructed Maharaja Bhupinder in his dreams to build it at its current spot.


Gurudwara Sahib Chail was also built and established by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh in 1907 and after the partition of Punjab, it was taken and maintained by the Government.

This gurudwara does not attract many tourists of all religions but is a well known spiritual spot for the local citizens.
